At the January 1997 Northeast Presbytery meeting, Mr. Michael Lawrence, being examined for licensure, was asked to give a brief overview of Biblical history from Abraham to Malachi: resulting in the following exchange between him and the Moderator, Dr. T. David Gordon. "About 3000 BC, God called Abraham-these are just some rough dates, believe me . . . ." "I've had some rough dates, too." "Still?"
Later, when asked his eschatological position, Mr. Lawrence replied, "I'm amillennial, if that will help you"; to which the Moderator responded, "That would help everyone."
