A Request for Prayer and for Financial Assistance

[The following request has been posted to a number of PCA churches. We are happy to place this notice on our website. The author of the letter informs us that the closing date on the property is January 15, 1999.]

Dear Brethren,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every good thing and has united us in the spirit of love. I am writing to share the testimony of God's grace in our congregation and of our need for your help.

Three years ago Immanuel Presbyterian Church (IPC) was formed by the merger of two small PCA congregations. By His grace alone our small body has grown both in number and ministry. We have been blessed by several conversions to Christ and have had 25 new members in the last two years.

Earlier this year, the owner of the church building we rent from listed it for sale. The asking price of $450,000 was beyond our means and we began searching for a new location to worship. By God's grace the owners approached us having reduced the asking price by $100,000. This reduction meets our monthly budget constraints. Our congregation has pledged $70,000, which means we are still $40,000 short of the down payment and our deadline is approaching. We are confident that if God wants us to purchase this facility, He will provide the funds.

Will you help us? First, your prayers for us are of immeasurable value. Second, we need your financial assistance within the next month. Will you bring our needs before your congregation?

Thank you for considering our request. We invite you to worship with us during your next trip to Phoenix, AZ, and to rejoice with us in all that the Lord is doing at IPC. May God richly bless you and your congregation.

In Christ,

Dr. Timothy Ruchti
